Kids can suffer from infected teeth and dental trauma just like adults, and the ONE ENDO® team is always here to ensure your little ones get the treatment they need to restore and protect their smile.
Endodontics focuses on treating infections and conditions affecting the interior of the tooth with treatments like root canal therapy. Pediatric endodontics is a subset of endodontics concerned with treating these issues in kids. We provide both standard root canal therapy for adult teeth, as well as “baby root canals” (pulpotomies), which are a faster and less-invasive alternative that helps restore and protect developing permanent teeth in kids. We provide care in a child-friendly environment, and offer sedation to help your child stay safe and comfortable while they get the treatment they need.
Endodontists have at least two more years of training in root canals and related procedures, compared to general dentists and pediatric dentists. They perform dozens of root canals and other endodontic treatments each week, so they have the specialized knowledge, tools, and training required to ensure the best possible results. To get your child the care they need, we recommend booking a consultation as soon as possible.
Many parents are unsure when they should take their child to see an endodontist as opposed to a general dentist. Any of these scenarios are appropriate to schedule an appointment for your child at ONE ENDO®:
After an Oral Injury: If your child plays a contact sport and their tooth gets cracked, or if they break or damage a tooth while playing or because of a slip and fall, an endodontist is the best choice. Endodontists can help restore and treat damaged teeth, and have more experience doing so compared to a regular dentist.
If Their Tooth Is Very Sensitive: If your child’s tooth is very sensitive when eating hot or cold foods, or when consuming very sugary foods or drinks, they may have a deep cavity or an infected tooth, and it’s best to see an endodontist for treatment.
If They Have a Toothache: A painful and prolonged toothache could indicate a tooth infection, which should be treated by an experienced endodontist using a pulpotomy (baby root canal).
After a Referral From Your Dentist: Pediatric dentists may sometimes refer patients to endodontists for complex root canals and other such procedures. If your child’s pediatric dentist thinks it’s a good idea to refer you to a specialist, contact ONE ENDO right away.
Tooth decay is the most common preventable chronic childhood disease, and if left untreated, it can lead to an infection that requires pediatric endodontic care. Make sure your child maintains proper oral hygiene to avoid cavities and tooth infections in both their baby and adult teeth. Patients opt for the ONE ENDO® Experience because we are able to offer:
I am a total scaredy-cat when it comes to dentists. All my concerns and worries were taken care of by Dr. Chen. She was awesome. Her bedside manner was just the best and really made me feel at ease. Her workmanship was impeccable and I am 24 hrs past my root canal- pain free. Just can’t say enough about Dr. Chen.
Dr. Mastroianni and his team are fantastic! I went to their office in severe pain and they addressed it immediately. The technology they used to find the route of the problem was like anything I have seen before. He was able to quickly find the issue and direct me to resolution. I would recommend 10/10!
I was referred to One Endo to detect and treat the source of severe tooth pain. Dr. Mastroianni quickly determined the source of the pain, took the time to explain the problem and the options for treatment, and performed an emergency root canal immediately. I highly recommend One Endo - and in particular Dr. Mastroianni.
